Use Ports
Inspect every switch port, connected endpoint, negotiated link and PoE relationship.
Outcome

Complete guide to Use Ports
When you do this
Use Ports when a wired device is offline, slow, drawing the wrong power or connected to an unexpected switch port.
What this means
Ports shows the physical edge of the network. It connects each switch port to its endpoint, link speed, PoE state and upstream path so you can distinguish a device problem from cabling, power or switch impact.
Before you start
- Select the site and switch that physically serve the affected area.
- Know the endpoint name, IP address or MAC address when possible.
- Confirm the evidence time is current before touching power.
Do this step by step
- 1Find the endpoint in Port inventory and confirm the switch and port number.
- 2Compare the device identity, negotiated speed and current link state.
- 3Read PoE status to see whether power is enabled, delivered and within budget.
- 4Open Connection path to identify uplinks and downstream devices that could be affected.
- 5Use a supported Port action only after the target and impact are unambiguous.
How to know it worked
The expected endpoint is associated with the correct port and any action produces a current link, power and device result without affecting unrelated equipment.
If it does not work
- If the endpoint is unidentified, compare MAC address and topology before acting.
- If the link repeatedly negotiates below expectation, inspect the cable and endpoint capabilities on site.
- If PoE budget is exhausted, moving or cycling one device may not solve the underlying capacity problem.
Important
Never power-cycle a port identified as an uplink or a port serving downstream infrastructure unless the full impact is understood and approved.
What you will see on this page
These are the exact AXORIK sections to look for. Read them in the order shown unless the complete guide directs you to a specific finding.
Port inventory
Lists switch, port number, connected device, link state and negotiated speed.
PoE status
Shows power mode, current draw and the available switch power budget.
Connection path
Identifies the upstream relationship and warns when the port may affect downstream devices.
Port actions
Provides supported inspection, locate, PoE cycle and configuration workflows when available.
Recommended workflow
Follow these steps in order. If a step is blocked, resolve it before moving to the next one.
Select the switch
Confirm that you are viewing the switch that serves the affected area.
Identify the endpoint
Match the port to a device name, IP, MAC and topology path.
Read link and power
Check state, speed, errors, PoE delivery, draw and evidence time.
Open the supported action
Use the exact port workflow only after the target and impact are clear.
Safety and interpretation
- Never cycle an uplink without understanding downstream impact.
- A disconnected port may be intentional.
- Physical cabling faults require on-site work.
